This pattern was marketed as the "Theme of the Decade" - designed by Phil Johnson - perhaps. It was also referred to as Early American Heritage, Country Pictures and Weather-vane. There were a few colour options released and several trial-runs of more obscure colour options never publicly released. These bowls were readily available in dark brown graphics on white base and dark brown graphics on a lighter brown base. This pattern was also available in 22-Karat GOLD Graphics over a brown base, as seen here - the gold applied graphics were found to be quite fragile to any handling – they did not wear well. This 440 series of bowls were released alternating brown-on-white (441, 443) and gold-on-brown bowls (442, 444).
